January 1st 2020
______The January full moon is known as the Full Wolf Moon.
Native American tribes named each recurring full moon to reflect the season and the respective moon phases. The most well known names come from Algonquin tribes who lived in areas from New England to Lake Superior. They named the January Moon Full Wolf Moon.
During this midwinter month wolf packs encountered little if any natural prey. Howls of hungry wolves echoed just outside Indian villages — beneath the full moon, and throughout the long, cold nights.
The moon throughout January reflects all lunar cycles, this year respectively “Third Quarter Wolf Moon,” “Full Wolf Moon,” First Quarter,” and “New Wolf Moon.”
The Full Wolf Moon of 2020 shows January 10th.
